NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS

Here is a punch that is most commonly on the scene around Christmas, and it's name means "to toast", and in my book that could be any day and any occasion. The ingredients are fitting for when the air becomes crisp.
WASSAIL BOWL
3 qts apple cider
2 sticks cinnamon, 3" long
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup honey
1/3 cup lemon
2 tsp lemon juice
2 tsp lemon rind
2 number 2 cans of pineapple juice (5 cups)
3 oranges, whole cloves
Heat cider and cinnamon sticks in large saucepan. Bring to boil, simmer covered 5 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and simmer uncovered 5 minutes longer. Pour into punch bowl and float spiced oranges* on top. Serve in mugs use cinnamon sticks as stir sticks.

SPICED ORANGES
stud 3 oranges with whole cloves (1/2 inch apart); place in baking pan with a little water, bake in slow moderate oven (325 degree) for 30 minutes.

Hi Sis, This sounds like a great punch to serve on Christmas Eve! My punch recipe, also from Dad's recipe collection is very similar, except it doesn't have the lemons, pineapple, or honey.I'll give this one a try.

Glad
